This year Carteret County submitted an entry in every category of the state recognition program, Carteret County Retired School Personnel offers renewable scholarships to Carteret County’s students seeking teaching certification. Several of these scholarships may be as high as $3,000.00 this year. Since 2012, the group has awarded $110,500. Informative brag boards have been placed in all the schools and in various locations across the county. QR codes are placed on different printed materials to make it easy to find a source of information about the retiree organization.for members and prospective members. This year Carteret met on the second Wednesday of September, November, February, April, and June. President Julia Thorn is Region 7B's 2022 Top Volunteer of the Year with 1,746.15 hours.

The unit celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week by taking candy and snacks to Wilson’s Mills Elementary School.
Jones

Jones County NCRSP prepared and distributed candy baskets to area schools for Valentine’s to promote recognition of NCRSP. There were new members in attendance at their most recent meeting.
Lenoir
Marva Brown, President
Lenoir County NCRSP had its first face-to-face meeting in May. A scholarship to Lenoir Community College was given during the year.
Onslow

Onslow NCRSP is politically active, with some members attending Board of Education and Commissioners meetings for the town and county. The unit is interested in education and issues related to retirees. They have been very busy incorporating strategies that encourage “active” participation in the association.
Pamlico

Pamlico NCRSP members donated $180 for the Foundation for Public School Children. To encourage attendance, written notes are mailed to members who miss a meeting. Get well cards are sent to the sick. They gave a $500 scholarship to a senior graduating from Pamlico High School. The group also donated to the organ donor program in honor of a member who was an organ recipient.

Pitt NCRSP partnered with Lakeforest Elementary School this year. A $300.00 mini grant was awarded to a teacher there. A staff luncheon was provided during Teacher Appreciation Week. Several members attended the State Convention virtually and seven attended the Legislative Appreciation Luncheon. President Frankie Brunson and Vice-President/Pitt NCAE Liaison Mary Nobles Maultsby attended the Pitt NCAE retiree dinner.

Wayne NCRSP is creating a brochure to promote their local association. One of thelr goals this year is to get the scholarship program going again. No scholarships were awarded the past 2 years. Mini grants are also being considered.
